Novel yang berjudul Burung Rantau Pulang ke Sarang karya pena Teuku Azhar Ibrahim adalah novel yang bergenre sejarah.
Kisah yang berlatar di Aceh tepatnya pada saat pemerintahan kerajaan Pasai dulu seakan membawa kembali pembaca ke masa tersebut, masa dimana syariat islam masih sangat kental dalam kehidupan masyarakat Aceh.
Suasana Pendidikan Dayah Seulawah dengan ciri khas ilmu silat yang langsung diajarkan oleh pimpinannya yaitu Teungku Chik Dayah Seulawah mengajak pembaca seakan-akan hadir ke dalam setiap bagian cerita.
Teungku chik yang sudah tidak muda lagi ingin berjumapa dan mengajak pulang kembali anaknya yang bernama hamzah yang sedang meneguk kelezatan ilmu di Mekkah. Harapnya Hamzah akan menjadi penggantinya memimpin dayah. Anak Pertama Teungku Chik jauh dari apa yang diharapkan, ketika sampai di mekkah, Teungku Chik tidak mendapat kejelasan mengenai keberadaan Hamzah, apakah Teungku Chik bertemu dengan Hamzah di Mekkah?
Teungku Chik merupakan seorang ulama yang sangat dihormati di kalangan masyarakat Pasai yang juga diangkat oleh kerajaan pasai sebagai penasihat istana yang sangat berpengaruh dalam roda kekuasaan kerajaan Pasai.
Perjalanan Teungku Chik untuk bertemu Hamzah ke Mekkah dihiasi dengan berbagai halangan dan rintangan, penulis berhasil menyampaikan kepada pembaca tentang nilai-nilai Islam Rahmatan lil’alamin, keikhlasan, Kebaikan, perjuanagan, kesabaran dan nilai-nilai lainnya melalui karakter Teungku chik. Teuku Chik Berhasil menumpas pembangkang kerajaan, perompak, dan pengacau kerajaan Pasai bersama dengan beberapa bekas muridnya yang telah menjadi laskar istana.
Melalui perjalanan Teungku Chik ke Mekkah penulis menyisipkan kisah kunjungan Laksamana Cheng-Ho ke kerajaan Pasai, beriringan dengan gambaran umat Islam di Tiongkok, petualangan para saudagar dan pelayar Islam juga peran utusan-utusan kerajaan Pasai dalam menjalin hubungan dengan kerajaan-kerajaan lain mengalir indah dari Laut Merah hingga Selat Malaka.
Unsur dan nilai falsafah tentang Tuhan, hikmah, kehidupan dan toleransi dalam beragama tergambar jelas dalam aliran kata di dalam novel ini. Bersamaan dengan film kenangan Teungku Chik yang kembali berputar di ingatannya saat ia muda dulu di tanah tiongkok yang juga berhasil meninggalkan nilai Islam di tiongkok.
Kisah cinta dan kesabaran Meutia dengan Gam Manyak juga memberi sentuhan
romansa dalam novel sejarah favorit saya ini.

Ketika pertama sekali saya membaca novel ini, saya benar-benar terbawa ke dalam suasana cerita. Ini benar-benar novel sejarah yang didalamnya terdapat sangat banyak nilai dan pelajaran tentang kehidupan yang harus dipelajari.
