Contoh pertama adalah percakapan tentang virus corona dengan menggunakan ungkapan giving opinion dalam bahasa inggris.
Ungkapan giving opinion adalah ungkapan memberi pendapat, biasanya didahului oleh asking opinion atau meminta pendapat. Berikut contohnya.
Jack: Hello, Olya. How have you been? (Halo, Olya. Gimana kabarmu?)
Olya: I’m being so good (Baik-baik aja nih)
Jack: Are you at home? (Apakah kamu di rumah?)
Olya: Yes, of course, it’s still a pandemic (Ya, iyalah, kan masih pandemi)
Jack: Absolutely (Benar sekali)
Olya: How about you? Is the coronavirus under control there? (Gimana dengan kamu? Apakah virus corona terkendalikan disana?)
Jack: As usual, we are still trying (Seperti biasa, kami masih terus mencoba)
Olya: Very sad to see things not getting better (Sedih banget ngeliat keadaan belum membaik)
Jack: That’s so true tho. So what is your opinion about the never-ending spread of the coronavirus? (Mmang benar. Jadi, apa pendapat kamu tentang penyebaran virus corona yang tidak berhenti?)
Olya: In my opinion, there a lot of people who do not follow health protocols instruction (Menurutku, masih banyak orang di luar sana yang masih gak ngikutin instruksi protokol kesehatan)
Jack: Obviously, I saw it (Jelas, aku pernah liat)
Olya: Me too. (aku juga)
Jack: It makes me angry! (ini buat aku geram!)
Olya: Yeah, there is nothing we can do except continue to watch over ourselves and pray (Ya, gak ada yang bisa kita lakuin kecuali jaga diri sendiri dan berdoa)
Jack: Absolutely. Okay, Olya. I have a thing to do (Bener sekali. Ok Olya, aku ada kerjaan yang harus ku selesain)
Olya: Yeah, it’s great to talk with you (Ya senang bisa ngobrol sam elu)
Jack: Thanks, have a good day (Makasih, semoga harimu menyenangkan)
Olya: You too. (kamu juga)

Percakapan antara anak dan orang tua tentang pembelajaran dirumah karena adanya virus covid-19.
Mom: Mila, where are you? get down here for a sec! (Mila, dimana kamu? Turun kesini bentar!)
Kid: What is it, mommy? (Ada apa mak?)
Mom: Are you have an online school session today? (Kamu ada sekolah online gak hari ini?)
Kid: Yes, I have. I almost forgot. in an hour (Iya ada, hampir aja lupa. Sejam lagi)
Mom: Alright, let’s get ready (Baiklah, ayo siap-siap)
Kid: Mom, it’s very boring (Mak, bosan kali lah)
Mom: What do you mean? (Apanya?)
Kid: I mean, online school is going very dull and not fun (Maksudnya, sekolah online membosankan dan gak seru)
Mom: So what? we have a high number of coronaviruses here, and any school has not been allowed to study face-to-face (mau gimana lagi? Angka corona virus masih tinggi di daerah kita, sekolah manapun belum buka untuk belajar tatap muka)
Kid: Online school did not work for me (aku gak suka sekolah online)
Mom: Come on, let’s get your online stuff and grab your breakfast before it (apa, ayo siapin peralatan onlinenya dan makan dulu)
Kid: Okay mommy. (iya mak)

Percakapan tentang karantina di rumah
Vic: Hello, Ira. How are you doing? (Halo, Ira. Gimana kabar lu?)
Ira: I’m glad. What’s going on? (Mantap lah, ada apa?)
Vic: Not much. I just want to check your activity at home during the quarantine. (Gak ada. Cuma mau ngecek kegiatan lu di rumah selama pandemi)
Ira: You want to know the truth? (Beneran mau tau?)
Vic: What is that? (Iya, apa itu?)
Ira: Quarantine is suck. I’m not gonna lie. (Sumpah, karantina payah)
Vic: Really? (Seriusan?)
Ira: Yeah, it’s very boring. My activity still the same every day (Ya, bosan kali lah. Aktivitasku sama aja tiap hari)
Vic: That was terrible! (itu mengerikan)
Ira: Absolutely, I stuck at home and can’t leave my house (Beneran, aku kesangkut di rumah dan gak bisa keluar)
Vic: I got you. So, you want to try some tips from me? (aku paham. Jadi, mau coba beberap tips dari aku?)
Ira: What is it? (Apa itu?)
Vic: Try to find a new hobby or a new activity (Coba cari hobi baru atau aktifitas baru)
Ira: Your tips sound a lot more fun (Tips lu kedengeran menyenangkan)
Vic: Trust me, that work (Percaya deh, itu ampuh)
Ira: Thanks, I’ll try it (makasih, akan kucoba)
Vic: Don’t be down buddy (Jangan sampe down, sobat)

Avery: What’s Up? (Lagi ngapain?)
Dhoni: Not much. How are you doing? (Gak ada. Gimana kabarmu?)
Avery: I’m glad. I didn’t think you’d call me. (Aku senang. Tumben nelpon)
Dhoni: I feel like I lost a lot of time with my friends during this pandemic. (Aku rasa banyak hilang waktuku sama teman-teman selama pandemi ini.)
Avery: Right, I feel the same way. (Betul, aku ngerasain itu juga)
Dhoni: Yes, that’s why I called you to make sure everything was going well. (Ya, itulah mengapa aku nelpon kamu mau tau apakah baik-baik saja.)
Avery: Thank’s bro, I appreciate that. (Makasih bro, aku hargai itu.)
Dhoni: What’s the situation in your city? (Gimana situasi di kota kamu?)
Avery: Everyone’s working on this thing. (Semua orang sedang berusaha)
Dhoni: That’s great. We hope everything will get better soon. (Mantap. Kita harap semuanya segera membaik.)
Avery: Yeah, so what’s about there? (Ya, gimana disana?)
Dhoni: It’s better here than yesterday. (Disini sudah lebih baik.)
Avery: That’s excellent news, bro. (Berita bagus tu bro.)

Dialog pemasangan infus dalam Bahasa Inggris
Bagian I
Nurse: Excuse me, sir. How’re you feeling today? (Permisi, bapak. Gimana perasaan anda hari ini?)
Patient: Not bad… (Tidak buruk…)
Nurse: It’s better than yesterday? (Apakah lebih baik dari kemarin?)
Patient: I think so. (Sepertinya begitu.)
Nurse: The doctor said that your intravenous line can be stopped. (Dokter bilang kalau pemasangan infus anda sudah bisa dihentikan.)
Patient: Really?! Thank god… (Beneran?! Alhamdulillah)
Nurse: Yeah. Because you already passed this treatment. (Iya. Karena anda sudah melewati perawatan ini.)
Patient: True, I’m more comfortable without it. (Bener, aku lebih nyaman tanpa infus.)
Nurse: But you have to stay in the hospital for a few more days for better results. ( Tapi anda harus tetap di rumah sakit beberapa hari lagi.)
Patient: No problem. (Tidak masalah)
Nurse: I’m taking it off now, please relax! Okay? (Saya lepas infusnya sekarang, relaks ya?!)
Patient: Sure. Thank You… (Iya. Terima kasih.)
Nurse: You’re welcome. (Sama-sama.)

Patient: Is that okay if you put the intravenous line on? (Bolehkah saya dipasang infus?)
Nurse: Yes, the doctor has scheduled it for the next hour. (Ya, dokter sudah menjadwalkannya sejam lagi.)
Patient: Oh, I don’t think I will have the intravenous line. (Oh, saya pikir saya tidak akan dipasangkan infus.)
Nurse: You’ll have, sir. We have to handle the pre-treatment first. (Gak, anda kan mendapatkannya. Cuma kami harus menangani pra-perawatan dulu.)
