Sebelum menjawab pertanyaan pada judul materi di atas, kita ulang dulu materi tentang fi’il madhi tsulatsi mujarrad dan fi’il mu’tallul ‘ain atau al-ajwaf.
qaala (قَالَ) adalah fi’il madhi, tsulatsi mujarrad.
qaala (قَالَ) termasuk dalam fi’il mu’talul ‘ain (المعتل العين) atau al-ajwaf.
qaala (قَالَ) termasuk pada golongan ajwaf waw (أجوف واوي).
Jika sobat telah membaca ulang link di atas, maka sobat mengetahui bahwa makna mu’talul ‘ain adalah yang terdapat huruf illat pada ‘ain fi’ilnya.
Oleh karena ia fi’il tsulatsi mujarrad (ثلاثي مجرد), maka illat pada ‘ain fi’ilnya berarti pada huruf kedua.

قَالَ asalnya adalah dari قَوَلَ
Dalam mizan as-sarf, ia termasuk bab satu pada kelompok fi’il tsulatsi mujarrad, tepatnya wazan فَعَلَ – يَفْعُلُ (fa’ala – yaf’ulu).
Kalau dari kata asalnya, maka polanya adalah قَوَلَ – يَقْوُلُ (qawala – yaqwulu).
Namun, polanya sebagaimana yang kita dengar dari penutur aslinya (orang Arab) yaitu menjadi قَالَ – يَقُولُ (qaala – yaquulu).
